Why?
Maximizing value: Product Owner is dedicated to maximizing the value of product.
- Ensure every features, fixes, or optimization directly contributes to the e-commerce overall benefit (more sales, happier customers, lower costs).
Example: Integration of a flexible and safe payment gateway such like Paytrail, because it has MobilePay/Siirto, "Buy now, pay later" like Walley options.
The voice of the customer: Research, analytics of the customer needs, wants, expectations, preferences and dislikes.
- Representing customer and stakeholder needs to the development team, ensuring the product solves real problem for real users.
Example: Gathering feedbacks that customers struggle with find or search products/items from store.
Prioritizing for impact: Focus on the most valuable and aligned items in their backlog.
- Strategically ordering the Product Backlog items based on their potential to deliver the most significant business and user value earliest, while considering effort and risk.
Example: Deciding to work on improving security enhancements first, even it might not immediately boost conversion rates. The long-term impact of maintaining a secure PrestaShop environment through regular and comprehensive vulnerability scanning for keeping the store free from known security flaws, data breaches or service disruptions.

Visionary Leadership#
As a Product Owner for a PrestaShop project, Visionary Leadership isn't just about managing backlog, it's about painting a compelling picture of where the e-commerce platform is headed. Defining the product vision means articulating the long-term desired future state and how it will serve both customers and business.
Understand the Core Business Goals What is the overall business trying to achieve? Is it building a strong brand community, expanding into new geographical areas or bringing AI? Vision must support wider goals. If company aims for AI then vision might include:
- AI-powered product recommendations (personalized shopping experience)
- AI-driven search functionalities (improved product discoverability)
- Customer service chatbots (automated 24/7 customer support)

Product Backlog Management#
Product Backlog Management is a primary tool for guiding the development of the product as a PO. It's on the ongoing process of refining, prioritizing features, and maintaining for all work to be done.

Stakeholder Communication#
PO is the central communicator between the development team and all stakeholders interested in the product. Effective communication ensures everyone is on the same page, expectations are realistic, and product development moves in the right direction.
- Showcase progress, such as in Sprint Reviews and share brief status updates
- Active listening, be accessible and genuinely listen to stakeholder's concerns and needs
- Tailor the message, adjust communication based on who they are speaking to at any given time (don't use single, pre-made message or presentation for everyone)
Responsibilities#

Decision Making Authority#
The Product Owner has the ultimately the power to decide what will be built into product, in this case is PrestaShop, and how to develop, that it best serves the needs of customers and business. PO make decisions that make the product best as it can. Developing team will implement but PO has responsible guiding with the tasks, accept or deny that has already implemented to ensure that they are align with the product vision. It is important that PO can say also no to ideas or request if it is necessary. Instead, if saying yes to everything might leads for bad results, missed deadlines and comes with zero effect. Explain the reasons and clarify about the business goal. If its possible, offer solutions that are alternative.
